GUMBO!
gumbo: A thick, robust roux-based soup sometimes thickened with okra or file’. There are thousands of variations, such as shrimp or seafood gumbo, chicken or duck gumbo, okra and file’ gumbo. Many times cooks use whatever ingredients they have on hand.
I am not just one thing, rather, I am an intentionally designed gumbo of many ingredients and flavors, some of them contradictory
My contradictions:
- My mother was first generation Polish, my father was a many generations Irish
- Iām an only child with a large extended family
- Born in Western NY, raised in Central Florida, I don’t let a pesky little thing like being born in the north deter my proclaimed southerner label
- I love good manners, common sense and honor – its that southern thing coming out
- Believe in following the rules, and expect others to do so – but, my creative side wants to break all the rules and do things my way
- I know lots of people, am accepted almost everywhere, but really fit nowhere
- I may seem like an extrovert, but at heart, am really a shy introvert — I’m an INFJ in Myers Briggs
- Live in the mid Atlantic, but long to move back to the south- see next bullet point
- LOOOOOOVE New Orleans and its culture. Someday I WILL live there.
- Can be depended upon to be a good sheep and follow my leader, until there is no leader and then feel compelled to step in and fill the void
